In this week’s pair of Once Upon A Time episodes, we’re hanging out with more people from the Land Of We Forgot We Have A Main Cast.

S6:E5 Street Rats

“Aladdin and Jasmine try to save their home from Jafar.”
Airdate: October 23, 2016

• Wish noise!
• Casting an Australian actor with a very pronounced Aussie accent as Aladdin is a choice, for sure.
• Not the meet-cute I remember, but okay.
• A little bit of “Street Rat” in the background music.
• This is an ex-Oracle. The marks on her face seemed familiar though. Wasn’t that the poison Rumple used on Jekyll’s love interest?
• “Hyde’s dead.” “Really? Then here’s everything you asked for.”
• Emma’s superpower! 🍺🍺
• “No, I just saw the movie.” Have all the Storybrooke residents made it a point to watch their movies? Do they wonder about all the movies that don’t have corresponding Storybrookians?
• Aladdin was a Savior? That changes things.
• Evil Regina does indeed seem like someone who could benefit from therapy.
• Creepy fake Doctor Cricket!
• I’m a fan of Zelena’s outfit in this scene.
• You know, like “A Whole New World” and magic carpets?
• A princess, stuck in a palace full of books. She’d probably get on well with Belle.
• Gotta admit this Cave of Wonders entrance plaza is pretty impressive.
• He should have tried “Mellon”.
• Not helping, Killian and Henry!
• A little bit of Indiana Jones and a bag of sand in this scene.
• Did Aladdin just magic the collapsing walls?
• I’m not buying something about Shireen/Jasmine’s story here. Seems too pat.
• “We don’t keep secrets from each other,” says Mary Snow White Margaret about her husband Prince David Charming, who both have kept secrets enough from each other to keep this series going for six seasons to date.
• Doctor Archie bouncing the baby is kinda cute.
• So wait, Evil Regina, hated and feared by literally everyone, just goes to the salon? Does she make a reservation or just waltz in and toad-ify the other customers?
• The blocking in this scene is conspicuously not showing the faces of the stylists, but the woman working on Evil Regina is dressed like Briar Rose.
• She said it!

Vader said it, too.

• I cannot get over having Oded Fehr cast as Jafar.
• Maybe Evil Regina’s stylist has a pair of those Fate Shears?
• Nice work, Savior Aladdin. Didn’t have to wish on a Genie or anything.
• According to the subtitles, Emma was reacting to “magical whooshing.”
• How did Regina’s spell linking magic to magic link Emma to a skeleton? Surely long-dead bones don’t still have Savior magic.
• Ah, not dead after all. And apparently, he’s had the Savior Shakes too.
• “I can show you the world.” “Oh, I can’t, I have to wash my cat.”
• Scoundrel, your kinda guy.

Jasmine happens to like nice men.

• Jafar quietly magicking the shears back to Aladdin is pretty clever.
• If Emma uses the shears, Storybrooke will fall. I assume.
• Oops, he’s not a Savior anymore. What will we do? Send Emma to Agrabah? Another half-season side quest?
• (Dearie)
• “We can protect you. And we can protect this town,” says David, who obviously hasn’t watched the previous five seasons.
• So we’re gonna take the thing that could remove Emma’s power permanently and just… throw them in the water? I’m sure Evil Regina or RumpleGold will never find them. … Or, he never threw them away at all.

S6:E6 Dark Waters

“Hook is taken captive by the mysterious Captain Nemo.”
Airdate: October 30, 2016

• If Aladdin used the shears, and they removed his Savior magic but didn’t kill him in some horribly obvious way, that means Jafar was actually telling him the truth.
• Okay, who is playing Captain Nemo? A very familiar voice. … It’s Faran Tahir, who I recognize from Warehouse 13.
• That’s no Narwhal.
• Should be perfectly safe here in this unlocked toolbox in this unlocked garage.
• Was that a sea monster? Mister Baxter, check the air pressure.
• So Regina and Zelena are no longer on good terms? How sad.
• Is MM including Regina in her family? Kinda love that.
• Agrabah. City of mystery, of enchantment, and the finest merchandise on sale today!
• “Green hook” (wince) Shouldn’t Emma’s superpower have nailed Killian’s lie?
• “So, what’s for breakfast?” “It’s Jasmine.” “Jasmine’s for breakfast?”
• Evil Queen tossed the apple over her shoulder: perfect.
• You have to ask yourself one tiny question.
• Maybe don’t go through the stolen wallet right there in front of the car you just broke into. I thought he was supposed to be some kind of master thief.
• “Traded in the carpet for a Miata?” Zoom zoom.
• Dark Curse Hook = guyliner city.
• The Nemo crew uniforms look awfully Caladan.

The Kraken is the spice, and the spice is the Kraken.

• Between Oded Fehr and Faran Tahir, very strong casting this season!
• Enchanted harpoon?
• I’m kind of fascinated by Captain Hook and Captain Nemo. And the Nautilus is gorgeous.
• Who was brought into the hospital? Probably Nemo?
• I’m a little confused about Belle’s pregnancy timing here, but whatever.
• Ah, the old Wookiee prisoner gag. When Henry said “never mind, alternate universe”, was he making a subtle joke about Legends canon?
• Those diving suits!
• “I think the pressure’s getting to you” as we’re underwater.
• Oh no, the Rancor! I mean the Kraken!
• “The Shears of Destiny”

This is the level that never ends…

• Evil Regina’s little disgusted look as Rumple walks out.
• The lesson Emma is trying to impart here is not really helpful!
• I know what happened to Agrabah. Jafar took over, people were sad, and everything was lit somewhat redder.
• Meanwhile, Killian and Henry are just hanging out on the Nautilus.
• An innocent orphan boy, huh? I’m sure it’s not Nemo’s first mate, who was just arguing with Killian.
• The key opens a door to a place called The Mysterious Island. Here’s the guidebook.

I’m pretty sure Allan Quatermain hangs out there.

• “Iron tin”?
• Right, they’re trapped. Except, Henry, being the Author, could just write them a way out. Beware of introducing superpowers, because you then have to justify not using them in every subsequent story.
• Killian doesn’t appear to be donning a diving suit. I’m not surprised.
• So, how does Nemo survive?
• Good idea, treasure chests sunk to the bottom are definitely never recovered.
• Aladdin, there’s more that I need to tell you. 👼🏼
• Doctor Whale, who does not appear in this episode.
• We don’t actually find out what happened to Nemo, who beat him up by the mine entrance or anything.
• “Everything that happened today was my fault.” EVERYTHING?
• Evil Regina’s evening gown: 🔥
• Belle almost walked in just as E.Q. and RumpleGold are making out.
• A few underwater creatures who owe her a favor?
• Snow White’s heart. Of course.
