#OUaTrevisit: S6:E9/10

In this week’s #OUaTrevisit #OnceUponATime episodes, it’s clear that the writers were mostly spinning their wheels, trying to keep several plotlines alive while not making much progress. The Evil Queen sneers and glowers, The Dark One growls and threatens, and Our Heroes make bold statements, but nothing really happens.

S6:E9 Changelings

“Gold tells the Evil Queen she must kill Zelena.”
Airdate: November 27, 2016

• “Wingless glowworm”
• Both of these people are lying to each other.
• Why would he announce it? Because he’s the villain.
• “Manual on Defeating the Dark One” is filed under M for Manual or D for Defeating? Or P for Plot?
• No way is that actually Belle’s son.
• (Dearie)
• Squid ink! That always works.
• Maybe you could! If Rumple doesn’t do some horrible baby sacrifice magic first.
• EQ’s fit today is straight out of an 80s dance club, and I love it.
• That’s a bold move by Regina. Using her own heart to threaten EQ.
• How long will the squid ink last? Not too long. And then he just creepily appears behind Belle.
• Who was the Black Fairy? Have we seen her before?
• Regina just acknowledged she’s a hero. I’m here for it.
• Phenomenal cosmic powers, itty bitty living space.
• EQ is just surprisingly ineffective overall.
• Flap, flap, flap.
• We have to hurry! But first, exposition!
• Is that chamomile decaf?
• Oh, the tea had the pregnancy speedup powder in it! (It wasn’t decaf)
• Huh. Rumple is the Black Fairy’s son? That’s quite a dysfunctional family.
• (The Black Fairy played by Jaime Murray, who I remember from Warehouse 13)
• I wouldn’t think the Dark One could enter the house of the Fairies, even with the dagger.
• What is definitely-not-Belle’s-son suggesting here? Just say what you mean!
• Oops, he did get in. And actually tried the “our son” gambit.
• I had forgotten that Zelena killed Baelfire/Neal, or at least was the reason he died.
• This is not useful, Gold!
• So, who do we think is under the hood?

S6:E10 Wish You Were Here

“The Heroes uncover a weapon that can defeat the Queen.”
Airdate: December 4, 2016

• EQ hanging out at Robin’s grave is just mean.
• Whoa. The sword can hurt EQ without affecting Regina!
• Leroy has news!
• Seems like actual murder would be a little out of Emma’s range though. But she did kill Cruella!
• Oh here’s Aladdin-as-Genie. Fun.
• Can the Genie do that? Retcon the entire series? I guess so.
• If Emma was never the Savior then the OG EQ never cast her curse?
• “With the Queen defeated, all of that was avoided.”
• One of the servants obviously left the sword under her bed after cleaning the Armory. Naturally. Like you do.
• Sir Neal!
• “This family is done fighting.”
• Belle’s and Gold’s hair together should show the son’s location, but he’s “elsewhere.”
• I do like an Appletini.
• “Ew.” — Aladdin Genie.
• Clever! So clever!
• Except umm, people are going to think she’s the Evil Evil Queen. Oops.
• Emma was humming “Someday my Prince will come.”
• “You’re so old!”
• Uh oh, Sheriff Dumbass has a plan.
• How did Rumple survive decades in an abandoned dungeon?
• I don’t think I like this plan, Regina. If you’re in recovery, you shouldn’t go back to the things you did before.
• What cell carrier serves Storybrooke? Are those old flip phones off-contract?
• I love the queen’s speedwalk.
• David was just distracting Killian and Jasmine.
• A snake, am I? Perhaps you’d like to see how snakelike I can be? Or not.
• That’s kind of not really a great wish. “Exactly what she deserves” is not specific enough. Unless there’s a catch. I’m sure there’s a catch.
• Uh. What the hell, Emma? 🗝
• Oops, squeezed too hard. 💔
• Aha, it’s Sir Henry! Which is not according to the story.
• Very dark.
• Portal! (Leroy!)
• This must be the Extra Dark One who kills Emma. And turned EQ into a snake.
• Fake Rumple is funny.
• “Do you trust me?” 🧞
• Oh, I think I may have a clue about the identity of the Extra Extra Dark One.
• “Big trouble!” — Leroy
• Uh-huh, thought so. Belle & Gold’s son, or the person who says he is.
• Hi Robin! Nice hair.
• Oh no, waited too long.
