#OUaTrevisit: S7:E1/2
This will be posted to my Mastodon account; don’t forget to read my fellow Revisitors Katie’s and Cindy’s posts too!
Instead of ending on a triumphant note with the season six finale, we’re heading into the “AfterMASH” era of OUaT where we’re in a different setting, with mostly different characters (but a few cameos from the old days) and having to explain literally everything.
Based on the first two episodes, I’m not sorry we’re in the final season.
S7:E1 Hyperion Heights
“Henry Mills leaves Storybrooke on a new journey.”
Airdate: October 6, 2017
- Storybrooke-Henry (Jared S. Gilmore) is just completely grown now.
- And has August’s motorcycle and a portal bean.
- The portal looked like a Doctor Strange spell! #synergy
- “A new realm, years later…” and a new actor playing Adult Henry. But poor motorcycling skills.
- In the opening: Seattle, where Adult Henry is driving for “Swyft”.
- (This is the scene from the end of S6:E22.)
- Her mom is Cinderella! But a different one than we know.
- Cindy’s stepmom is Lady Tremaine, yes?
- Jacinda works for a jerk.
- The troll under the bridge does exist, I’ve been there.
- Uh, Roni is Regina? With a fantastic hairdo.
- Cindy’s dress is going to burn up on the exhaust pipes.
- 👊🏽🤷♂️🏍️
- Jacinda’s roommate is played by Mekia Cox, of The Rookie.
- And Victoria Belfrey is played by the amazing Gabrielle Anwar (“Burn Notice”).
- If Fiona NoLastName could use a stolen wand to turn herself into the Black Fairy, I guess Lady Tremaine can use one to straight-up murder a fairy godmother. Seems like you’d want biometric authentication on those things.
- Looks like the old Storybrooke wishing well.
- That’s a pretty great line, Henry.
- “Oh, frog legs, no thank you.” Could this be Tiana?
- Revenge is a dish best-served cold. Like frog legs.
- That was the girl from the rooftop earlier, and it’s Alice. Interesting.
- “Weaver” as in Rumplestiltskin, who famously spins straw into gold.
- Relationships: Jacinda is Lucy’s mother. Victoria is Jacinda’s stepmother.
- How does Victoria know Henry? Presumably, because she cast the curse, and is therefore in the Regina role of being the only one “awake” in the resulting timeline.
- Officer Killian!
- Alice from Wonderland, and other places!
- It’s hard to see Henry in the role of the one not believing. But it’s also kind of obvious.
- Bainbridge Island is not a bad choice, as long as you have a boat.
- “Officer Rogers” as in Jolly.
- That is absolutely a Doctor Strange portal. I bet the OUaT crew borrowed it from the MCU production team (Doctor Strange: 2016).
- Go, Roni! Maybe a bit too much monologuing though. Reminds me of another overlong Regina voiceover monologue from an earlier season.
- Emma!
- Are you going to start your second book just like your first? I guess that’s a choice.
- “Regret’s not really my thing.”
S7:E2 A Pirate’s Life
“Henry calls upon his Storybrooke family for help.”
Airdate: October 13, 2017
- Hey, it’s a flashback, with teen Henry, Killian, and Emma.
- Adult Henry was easily captured. The little bottle seemed kind of a silly way out.
- Not a great dress on Lady Tremaine.
- “You seem a lot nicer than she is.” “I’m not.”
- Why didn’t Emma show up though?
- Robert Carlyle has a different accent.
- “WorkBunny” which is definitely not TaskRabbit.
- “I’ve gotta hop,” says Jacinda’s friend who I think is Tiana.
- Drunken fool version of Killian. Multiverse!
- Creepy plan by fake Killian.
- I’m kinda into the detective team-up.
- “Granny’s added poke.”
- What is going on with Emma??
- A little bit of Captain Hook music.
- I figured fake Killian wasn’t going to be into being a dad, but it turns out he’s a good guy.
- Detective Weaver is totally corrupt. Surprise.
- Family lines getting awfully complex around the Killian Jones family. Multiverse Hook has a daughter!
- Emma has healed people worse off than fake Killian. No reason to doubt herself.
- I don’t really get the Weaver/Victoria dynamic yet.
- I see, Regina stays here with Henry and Other Hook, and they are eventually cursed to live in Seattle. At least we seem to be filming in the actual location.
- This episode is mostly people explaining things to each other.
- So it’s “Operation Take Down Victoria”.
